about

The first Afrikaans poetry ever written about the Northmen.

The poem, "Hart van die Hamer" (by Natasha Danzig, 2015), made such an impact on local Afrikaans literature that many people begged for the song to be transposed into a LadyAxe song.
"Hart van die Hamer" means 'Heart of the Hammer' and the entire song is sung in LadyAxe's native tongue, AFRIKAANS.

"Vikingar Cruxiis" is about heritage and how even being displaced to the other side of the planet cannot dilute the blood of Germanic Vikings that run through the Afrikaner veins of many in South Africa today. It is an ode to our forefathers who hailed from the Northern settlements of circa 900AD.

Trivia: The words "Vikingar Cruxiis" means 'Vikings of the Southern Cross), however, the title is not in any specific language.

'Vikingar' being a Scandinavian derivative of "Vikings" and 'Cruxiis' derived form the astronomical name for the Southern Cross - "Crux".

lyrics

VIKINGAR CRUXIIS

In dieselfde asem bevestig, deur dieselfde Seëning verwek.
