The Blood Eagle is reputed to have been a painful punishment by death employed by ancient Vikings on their enemies. It involved cutting open the victim's back and pulling the lungs through the broken ribs to hang outside the body until the victim suffocates.

It was said to have greater favour with the Gods to remain quiet while suffering this death.

~This song was written in 1993 by a 19 year old LadyAxe, but was never sung or recorded until its demo was made in 2014. LadyAxe kept the song in her head for 21 years before letting anyone hear it!
~It is the first music video from this album.

On mountains of emerald I'm running
Searching for meat of man
The ancestors' voices humming
Their footprints lay in the sand
Searching for meat of man

Speak no single prayer
For silence brings you near
Suffering the breathless tear
The Gods invite your fear
Feasting on meat of man

Death will come, life will go
The Blood Eagle you will know
Man will die, woman cry
The blood of mine

Reaper takes his toll
I, the dragon's breath
Kill immortal souls
How sweet the smell of death

In my armor I hold the Kingdom
Of the eras my Fathers forged
And I shall not waver in duty
By my vengeance I am engorged

Oh, the Valkyries shine like the moonlight
On the shore along with the tide
Feel the pulse of Thurian blessing
And I know it's time to ride
